They are both seasoned musicians and live performers, each having released numerous singles and albums. Sanctuary Duo brings together Brittany’s amazing and rich vocals, along with Daniel’s extraordinary skills as a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist.

Brittany Leo
Brittany has become an integral part of the Melbourne music scene as a vocalist, performer, and as a DJ. Her vocal aura has heavy influences from her love of rock music and powerful female vocalists. She has since curated a signature sound and developed into a strong pop artist with electronic influences. Performing as a singer and as a DJ has enabled Brittany to expand her network and learn to create a vibe for any kind of performance necessary to please and captivate her audience.

Daniel Johnson
Daniel has recently graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Music specialising in Interactive Composition. As a music producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, he co-runs the record label “Bean Recordings”, working with local Melbourne artists to help write, record, and distribute their music. He has also been working as an instrumental teacher at various primary schools across Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs. Daniel enjoys using his musical abilities to elevate and inspire those around him.

Joshua Batten
Joshua Batten is a modern-day troubadour, using music as his language to connect with his audience. Drawing on personal experience, his music provides both an escape and perspective in a complex world. His live sets have resonated with audiences as his songs strive to “know thyself”, exploring genuine reflections of life’s most introspective moments, then humbly offering them up as common and universal experiences. Based in Melbourne, Joshua's personal brand of Alternative Roots Rock is characterised by passionate vocals, accomplished guitar playing, layered arrangements and insightful lyrics. Joshua says: “Music has given me a voice to break through the noise that constantly surrounds me.”

Joshua's debut full-length album, The City Within, was released in April 2020, and despite COVID-19, Joshua has maintained connection with his audience through weekly live-streamed concerts on Facebook. Joshua has played over sixty ‘Quaranstreams’ throughout 2020/21, bringing together his followers from all over the world.

Joshua’s second album, Learn To Live Again, is due for release on October 3rd 2022, supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria. The sprawling 14-track album is an eclectic mix of songs that tell a cohesive story about the challenges and acceptance of mental health and neurodiversity, set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Andrew Wishart
Frankston based singer songwriter Andrew Wishart is no stranger to the big or small stage. He has been entertaining crowds around Australia for more than 25 years, playing a mixture of classic songs from the 70’s onwards, and always keeping the crowds entertained and involved.

Andrew beat out more than 30,000 plus hopefuls to be Runner Up on the top rating reality show, The X Factor.  As part of this journey, Andrew performed each week in front of a live studio audience that was watched by millions of people around the nation. Since then, Andrew has primarily focused performing, and that has seen him travel the length and breadth of Australia and several overseas tours.

His debut CD release, ‘It’s Never Too Late’, went top 15 in the Australian Aria charts, and continues to sell within Australia and worldwide.
Playing in bands, solo, duos and trios since he was 14, Andrew lives and breathes music, playing guitar, and wowing his crowds with his dynamic vocals, interpretations, stage wit and engagement.

Andrew, through years of live performance experience, knows how to command attention and captivate audiences on all occasions. Armed with little more than his acoustic guitar and his powerfully unique voice, Andrew possesses a resonance in his performances that transcends generations.

Kaiyah Mercedes
Kaiyah Mercedes is a 16-year-old up-and-coming LGBT singer/songwriter based in Melbourne, Australia, whose lyrics are written with poetic influence and a focus on storytelling and emotions. Kaiyah began writing in 2020, taking inspiration from everything in her life from literature, films and TV, fictional stories of her own creation, and real experiences. She writes songs that profoundly express the realities of teenage life through her deep lyrics and rare sincerity, and is able to immerse listeners in feelings of nostalgia and sadness.

During lockdown in 2020, Kaiyah taught themself guitar and piano, and started writing complete songs. Kaiyah describes songwriting as a form of therapy, and a way of understanding emotions and feelings in a creative way. She turned to music when she first started exploring her sexuality and begun struggling with mental health, and now as a proud queer artist, Kaiyah expresses herself honestly and completely through her lyrics. She tries to put into words feelings that can sometimes feel unexplainable, and also draws lots of inspiration from fiction.

Kaiyah began 2022 with the release of her debut single ‘After Summer Ends’ which has since gained over 30,000 streams on Spotify alone. This track also won the Grand Final of the Radio Eastern Talent Search Competition. Her second single ‘I Don’t Know Who You Are Anymore’ followed, landing 3 weeks on the AMRAP Top 10 Metro charts. Kaiyah’s third single ‘New Year’s Resolutions’ also brought about the release of her debut music video, which has reached over 16,000 views in the first month of its release. She now has a total of 65,000 streams on Spotify and is constantly growing.

This Melbourne musician has had national radioplay on dozens of local stations across Australia, as well as international radioplay from stations in countries such as the USA, Italy, UK, Canada, and South Africa.

Kaiyah has been part of I Heart Songwriting Club for over 12 months now and has been mentored by notable Australian musicians and producers such as Francesca De Valence (founder and CEO of I Heart Songwriting Club), Sam Buckingham, Helen Shanahan, Emma Dean and Jack Nigro. Kaiyah is also working with Melbourne based producer Chris Wilson, who helped bring Kaiyah’s first three singles to life and is producing the entirety of Kaiyah’s debut album to be released later this year.

The fourth (and final) single to be released before Kaiyah’s debut album, is a track titled ‘The Days We Remember’, written about friendship, memories, and the simplicity of happiness. “I wrote this song about the people I love so much, and about the memories we hold dear to us, capturing them like polaroids and putting them on your wall. The memories we make and share with the people we love is what makes us who we are.” This song will be available on all streaming platforms on the 25th of August, followed by the release of a music video in September.
